Check Out Trinie Dalton tonight at Skylight when zine culture meets art culture in a hilarious mutual admiration society... I have no idea what that means but Trinie's books are really funny and often collaborative efforts with some really cool artists and writers as is the case with MYTHTYM Check it out!
Trinie Dalton has long made popular zines on variety of subjects. She brings together artists, musicians, critics, novelists and cartoonists in one gorgeous stew. MYTHTYM compiles the best work from her previous zines on Werewolves, mythical beings, and the natural world. But best of all, this volume includes an entirely new, 100-page body of work on the theme of mirrors.

For this new exhibition Sumi Ink Club, the Los Angeles based drawing collective present three-dimensional plywood constructions covered in their signature black sumi ink drawings.
In the spirit of Sumi Ink Club’s commitment to a collaborative process, the topsy-turvy, detailed, collaborative drawings that cover the constructions were created at meetings held during the weeks leading up to the event. Their motto, “all ages, all humans, all styles” is embodied in their distinctive style, which through a simple format, allows for almost universal participation. In each of its permutations Sumi Ink Club uses group drawings as a means to open and fortify social interactions. Collaborative drawing sessions will be held at siteLA throughout the duration of the exhibition

...New Silver Lake Art Craft & Vintage Flea Market to Debut
One of our goals this year is to not be shopping and wrapping presents on Christmas Eve. But that means one has to now start thinking of what to buy and where to shop. So here's one good place to start: the art gallery Ghettogloss has announced the Silver Lake Art Craft & Vintage flea that begins on November 15 and runs on Saturday and Sundays through December 21.
"With all the underground and campy delights that make our Silver Lake what it is--with all the residing artists and crafties, record collectors and vintage whores, antique hoarders and penny savers that we know and love, we think that Silver Lake is missing one major thing. It seems to us that this neighborhood is just begging for a flea market," they write in an e-mail newsletter. Ghettogloss says that every vendor at the market--located at located in the Citibank parking lot at Silver Lake and Glendale Boulevards--is hand-picked by themselves.

Special Halloween hours
Friday, October 31st, 7 pm-midnight
Two residents of an old house in the hills of Los Angeles began receiving ghostly messages in Polaroid photographs. The pair started taking photos inside the house in the hope of obtaining a picture of the entity they believed haunted the house.
After first capturing a ghostly image on film, the men discovered that if they asked questions about the entity and why it was inhabiting their house, words and messages appeared in response on their film. So far, more than 1000 photos have captured messages – photos taken not only by the residents but by paranormal researchers and other outsiders. A photographic expert at Polaroid has no explanation for the messages. An expert at California’s Brooks Institute of Photography can suggest an explanation, but it requires a lengthy set up process and hours of lab work. The ghost or spirit calls himself “WRIGHT”. He shows signs of erudition and intelligence, writing many of his messages in Latin.
The ghost first appeared on film in March 1992 after one of the residents kept hearing unexplained noises throughout the house. After a door opened mysteriously, he took a series of photos, several of which revealed a classic ghost-like shape, including dark shadows at the eyes and mouth. The messages began to appear on film in June 1992. The first was in response to a friend’s question about the ghost, “Is he here now?” The photo revealed a barely discernible “yes” in cloudy white shapes. After that, the writing became far more legible.
